About performing
Key information for musicians
Booking
The Aylesbury Lunchtime Music concerts are very popular with musicians. Scheduling begins after Easter for the following year.
Rehearsals
The church is available 10:30-12:00 before the concert. At 12:00 there is a service so rehearsals must have finished by then.
Venue
St Mary’s Church is a Grade I listed building with excellent acoustics. The piano is a Kawai Grand and music stands are available.
Performances
Concerts are held on a Thursday at 12:45 (except August and over Christmas) and last around one hour.
Fees
Reasonable expenses and a modest performance fee are provided. These need to be agreed in advance.
Audience
We have a knowledgeable and attentive audience who welcome explanations of lesser known works. They are much appreciated by performers who often request to return.
Travel
Parking
With prior agreement you can park within St Mary’s Church grounds. Note that the gates are narrow and there is only room for a few cars. Use HP20 2QP for satnav. Alternatively, there are two car parks within easy walking distance on Whitehall Street and Buckingham Street.
Lifts from the station
Both Aylesbury train station and Aylesbury bus station are a 5-10 minute walk away from St Mary’s Church. If you require a lift please let us know your arrival time.

“We played Schubert’s Death and the Maiden quartet yesterday for the lovely Aylesbury lunchtime concerts series. Our wonderful audience was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop! Then they clapped and clapped which is always great and then we had tea and cake”
