Élégie, Op. 24 (Fauré)
Movements
Notes
Gabriel Fauré composed the Élégie, Op. 24 in 1880 originally as the intended slow movement for an unwritten cello sonata. The piece was later orchestrated by Fauré. The work features a sad and somber opening and climaxes with an intense, tempestuous central section before returning to the elegiac opening theme in C minor.
